Introduction Sino-US relation is among the most important bilateral relations in the history of modern international affairs. China is the largest developing country and America the largest developed one, the development and future of their bilateral relation not only serves the fundamental interests of the two peoples, but also helps to maintain the peace, stability and prosperity in Asia-Pacific region and even that in the world.. President Nixon’s historic visit to China in 1972 normalized Sino-US relation, and it brought a major adjustment in the U.S. policy towards China. But the road of development is full of twists and turns: progress accompanied with setback and cooperation mixed with conflict. China and the United States have significant differences in social system, ideology and value orientation. While at the same time, they share common interests on issues of global proportion affecting the very survival and development of mankind, such as DPRK nuclear crisis, Iran nuclear crisis, Mideast peace progress, prevention of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, spread of terrorism, establishment of a new mechanism for regional and international peace, protection of worldwide environment, management of world’s economy,and today’s global financial crisis etc. As a result, Sino-US relation would hardly run smooth.
