Representatives (Zheng zhen duo)郑振铎: argued in favor of the viewpoint that literature can be well translated; complained that Chinese old style of literature was fusty and something of platitude, and called for some fresh blood to ameliorate the situation; insisted that “Europeanization ” is more than imitation and needed to be moderately done. Mao Dun(茅盾): He upheld the realistic literature theories, and was prestigious as a literary critic. As one of the leaders of translation in the 1920s, he committed himself to the narration of translative end and function, the qualification and makings of translators, the aesthetics of translation. He asserted that translation of literary work carried equal weight as creation did and that translators without substantial experience of creation couldn’t render the literary felicitously. He accentuated the significance of “verve” in translation, which sublimated literary translation to the level of aesthetics and art. Lu Xun(鲁迅): He made remarkable accomplishments in five points of translation, they are as follows: 1)The purpose and quintessence of translation 2)Literal translation and blunt translation 3)Language and syntax of translation 4)Retranslation 5)Criticism of translation.
