All Copyright © 2014 are guarded by law and by Hans as a guardian. Abstract: In Wutai dialect, [li] has many syntactic functions, and its semantics is complex. Some of them are corresponding to the mandarin modifier markers “ 的/地/得”, durative aspect marker “着”, the particle “呢”, the prepositions “在/到”, and other unique usages. Through a comparative study of similar phenomena in the historical documents and other dialects, we found that [li] actually represents multiple function words having different historical sources, and belongs to the homonyms.
