The purpose is to provide compensation to those who suffer from losses that may be incurred. Defining risks and losses can help us choose the right type of insurance coverage. Risks Perils of the Sea : Natural calamity: force majeure(fors mazheur,French, meaning greater force) such as earthquake, tsunami, flood etc. Fortuitous accidents (accidental risks): such as ship sinking, ship collision, colliding with other objects.... Risks Extraneous Risks( extraneous, coming from the outside) general extraneous risks: Risks caused by theft, rain, leakage, shortage, breakage, dampness, mildewing(a plant disease caused by fungi), heating, taint of odor, hooking, and rusting special extraneous risks: risks caused by war, strikes, failure of delivery etc. Losses total loss: the whole lot of the consignment(goods) which has been lost or damaged partial loss: the loss or damage to the goods, which is only partial Defining losses will enable us to calculate the compensation(when the claim is made.)
