综合英语 第2课

Unit 2 Text I Space Invaders Text Analysis Text I Space Invaders In the text, the writer points out that nowadays people are more and more concerned about themselves and want to have a larger personal space than decades ago, and then he analyses the causes of space invasion. Paragraphs 1-2 The first two paragraphs tell us about the authors experience of how his personal space was invaded and how his individual border was intruded on. Question to be asked: How did the author describe the violation of personal space that happened in a bank? The author related his experience with a series of verb phrases and adverbials, such as inching toward, minutely advanced toward, in mild annoyance, began to sidle up to, absent-mindedly shuffled toward, which vividly described the process in which the people in line, though reluctant, had to give away their personal space to the invaders until they became hugger-mugger against each other.
