Abstract: In order to obtain the temperature variation laws in shaft linings of main shaft, auxiliary shaft and
ventilating shaft which are in service, field measurements were carried out. Measurement results are as follows:
the temperature in the linings of intake air shafts varies with the temperature of air current, the ranges of the
annual temperature variation in main shaft and auxiliary shaft are 21 and 22 respectively, and the law of
the temperature variation can be approximately expressed as a sine function of time with a period of 1 year; the
value of the annual temperature variation in the lining of outtake air shaft is about 2 , therefore it can be
approximately ignored. According to the analyses on the basis of the measured data, when the temperature rises,
the shaft lining will axially stretch, but it is subject to the constraint of the surrounding soils, so a vertical
additional force on the outer surface of the shaft lining acted by soils occurs, the vertical additional force is one
of the causes of the shaft lining rupture. On this account
