properties, such as the excellent mechanical properties.
The Zr-based and the Cu-based alloys have promising
(BMG) ability to form amorphous metallic glasses due to their
BMG large range of the super-cooling and the requirement of
Cu simple manufacturing equipments. For the benefit of the
Zr low cost, the Cu-based alloys have a better advantage
than the Zr-based alloys and hence are more valuable
Cu-Zr-Al for the manufacturer. The maj ority of the Cu and Zr
elements added Al element to develop a novel Cu-Zr-
Al ternary alloy systems. Phase equilibria are the most
fundamental research in material science. The purpose
of this study is to investigate the phase equilibra of Cu-
Cu-Zr-Al Zr-Al ternary system at 500oC. Due to formation of
500 Cu- BMG under supercooling solidification process, the
Zr-Al phase equilibria result will help industry to obtain clear
understanding to develop Cu-Zr-Al BMGs. Several Cu-
Cu-Zr-Al Zr-Al alloys were prepared and aged at 500oC for 1440
36 h . The alloys were pulverized and analyzed with an
Cu-Zr-Al X-ray diffractometer (XRD) to determine their phase
5001440 X-ray structure. A scanning electron microscope (SEM) was
used for microstructure examination, while SEM with
energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) was applied for
