Lucent Switch Hardware Overview Module Objectives Describe the hardware components of the B-STDX 9000 switch Describe the hardware components of the CBX 500 ATM switch Describe the hardware components of the GX 550 ATM switch Execute the correct console command to view cards information on a Lucent switch Lucent Switch Family B-STDX 9000 Architecture The B-STDX platform consists of Control processor (CP) module(s) connected to I/O processor (IOP) modules by a 1.2 Gbps bus Each IOP connects to an I/O adapter (IOA) card User/network connectors are on the IOA cards B-STDX Control Processor (CP) Module Highlights CP module contains RISC processor Flash memory (CP Basic, CP Plus) or PCMCIA hard drive (CP30,CP40,CP50) containing operating system, boot code Parameter RAM (PRAM) Cell bus arbitration/control logic Ethernet port RS232 serial port B-STDX Control Processor (CP) Redundancy Control processor redundancy achieved with Slots 1 and 2 reserved for identical CP modules Extra module serves as hot standby CP adapter card covers two slots in back B-STDX I/O Processor (IOP) Every IOP contains An i960 RISC processor RAM (8, 16, or 64 Mb) Parameter RAM (PRAM) B-STDX I/O Processor (IOP) Redundancy Network interface redundancy achieved with two identical IOPs in sequential slots Requires a redundant I/O adapter Logging In to the Switch Console Console port activated by a “break” character Direct connection or Telnet session can be used to access console port Viewing 9000 Hardware Configuration From a direct console connection (or a Telnet session), use the SHOW CARD command to view modules in switch CBX 500 Architecture The CBX 500 platform consists of Switch processor (SP) module(s) connected to I/O modules (IOMs) by a system midplane Each IOM connects to an I/O adapter (IOA) card User/network connectors are on the IOA cards CBX 500 Switch Processor (SP) Highlights CBX 500 I/O Module Highlights Each I/O module contains i960 RISC Processor RAM OS memory Parameter R
