An assessingm ethod is proposed for gearbox design schem es, wh ich is based on them atterelem ent model deduced from the theories of extension. An automob ile gearbox design scheme is discussed, which is based on fuel economy, dynam ics, com fort of gear shift andm anufacture cost. Using correlation function of the extens ion m atterelem ent model, the automob ile gearbox design schemes can be evaluated, and the result of the exempe show s that the extension theory is effective and reliab le.
