英语(必修5)Unit 1 Great scientists教学设计 Reading and writing: Copernicus’ Revolutionary Theory 宝鸡市陈仓区天王高中 王海英 编者按: 2008年9月11日,市教育局组织全市高中教育教学质量管理检查调研,在陈仓区天王高中检查时,英语教研员任军利听课后认为,王海英老师这节课有研究价值。经过与王老师交流探讨,反思教学过程,修改教学设计,现予以发表,请大家发表意见。 宝鸡市教育局教研室 Ⅰ Teaching Aims Emotional aims: ① Inspire the students to learn the great scientist’s scientific methods of doing research and sacrifice spirit. ② Stimulate the students’ interest of finding and solving problems. 2 Ability aims: ①Train the students reading and writing ability ②Enable the students to talk about the stages in scientific research. Knowledge aims: ①Help the students know about Copernicus’ theory and his characteristics ②Target language. Key words and expressions. Lead to , movement, make sense, complete, back ward, Spin, enthusiastic, cautious, reject. Important sentence patterns ①Although he had tried to ignore them, all his mathematical calculations led to the same conclusion : that the earth was not the center of the solar system. ②Only if you put the sun there did the movements of the other planets in the sky make sense. ③The problem arose because astronomers had noticed that some planets in the sky seemed to stop ,move backward and then go forward in a loop. ④Yet Copernicus’ theory is now the basis on which all our ideas of the universe are built.
