Lee Xiao-Yi’s Fierce Dredging and Reinforcing Treatment to Cancer Liu Yan-Shu (Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University, Changsha, 410013) Abstract Lee Xiao-Yi, a member of Guangxi National Medical Association, points out that cancer, as other chronic diseases, is Cold Stagnation and Obstruction Diseases by its pathogenesis, while blockage of cancer is so serious to life-threatening degree. We mustn’t regard cancer as heat toxins and use heat-clearing and toxin-removing drugs, and should not always use mild Warming Yang drugs, waste treatment time. The urgency of cancer treatment is dredging; the principle of treatment is reinforcing Yang Fire and expelling Yin pathogenic factors;” and the key of treatment is applying “fierce dredging” and “fierce reinforcing Yang Fire” methods tailored to each patient. However, the role of Traditional Chinese Medicine in cancer treatment is limited, which is often used for rehabilitative conditioning after chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery; empowering the efficiency of radiotherapy or chemotherapy; attenuating the toxicity of radiotherapy or chemotherapy; or only for those who can not bear surgery or radiotherapy. Lee Xiao-Yi, a member of Guangxi National Medical Association, points out that there are three reasons why Traditional Chinese Medicine only plays assistant role in cancer treatment: 1) Confused by some local symptoms, some doctors regard cancer as heat toxins and misclassified cancer as Hot Diseases and then used heat-clearing and toxin-removing prescriptions which does harm to patient; 2) Using mild prescriptions for serious illness, losing the best time for cancer treatment; 3) Lacking of effective drugs which can make tumor lysis.
