= Abstract Objective To evaluate the lini al value of 18FDG PETPCT in the diagnosis of lymph node metastasis and evalu-
ation of node staging for esophageal ar inoma. Methods A prospe tive study was performed to a ess whether 18F FDG PETPCT an
improve the diagnosti a ura y in lymph node metastasis for patientswith esophageal ar inoma, 30 patients underwent esophage tomy
with extensive disse tion of lymph nodes. PETPCT findings were ompared with that of CT. esults The pathologi al examination
onfirmed metastasis in 22 patients and 49 out of 243 ex ised lymph nodes. In PETPCT analysis, the sensitivity in the dete tion of
lymph node metastasis was 93. 9% , spe ifi ity was 91. 2% , with a diagnosti a ura y of 91. 8% . The positive and negative predi-
tive value was 73. 0% and 98.3% , respe tively. CT resulted in a sensitivity of 40. 8% , spe ifi ity of 96. 9% , a ura y of 85. 6% ,
the PPV was 76. 9% and NPV 86.6% , respe tively. The differen e of sensitivity ( P 01001) , a
