Time Allotment of the Unit
Six teaching periods are needed to cover the whole unit, among which students will have a series of reading, listening, speaking and writing activities related to the theme of the unit.

Section One: Star Profiles明星档案
A. Objectives
Students will be able to:
be familiar with the English vocabulary and expressions related to stars.
master the techniques to describe idols in English.
acquaint students with the real life of the stars.
write a life story for a star.
practise liaison.
B. Teaching Procedures
Step One: Starter— Various stars
A. Ask students the following questions:
B. Have students look at the pictures of some stars. Match the given occupations in the box with their names.
C. Check the answers with students.
D. Arrange a discussion among students of the above-mentioned stars, including their personality, charm, reason for reputation.
Step Two: We are proud of Yao Ming
Ask for students’ opinion on Yao Ming and how much they know about Yao Ming.
Have students listen to the tape or CD and choose the best answer to each question.
Check the answers with students and explain the key language points.
Arrange for students’ discussion on the question “What do you think of stars’ charity work?”
