Teaching Objectives 1. Language Objectives Important words and phrases: abandoned, midnight, look out of, try doing, try to do, be short for. 2. Ability Objectives (1) Improve students’ reading ability of generalisation and inference. (2) Learn about how to get useful information as soon as possible. 3. Moral Objectives (1) Make students have a general understanding of Australia and appreciate its beauty. (2) Encourage students to love animals, treat animals as our friends and be kind. II. Important Points 1. Master the meaning and use of some words and phrases. 2. Analyze the whole text, divide it into some parts and find out the main idea of each part. 3. Make inferences from some sentences. III. Difficult Points Analyze the whole text and make inferences from some sentences. IV. Teaching Methods 1. Task-based Language Teaching. 2. Skimming, scanning, inference, careful reading, discussing in groups. 3. Teaching Aids: a blackboard, some colourful chalks, some pictures. V.
