One notable divergence lies in the disciplinary differentiation – Euro-American researchers are largely Chinese art historians and sinologists, whereas most of Chinese researchers have strong architectural background. Such a disciplinary divergence in turn bears on the subtle differences in research direction, methodology and focus. This Symposium brings together for in-depth discussions international scholars from the Southeast University, Beijing University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Paris-Sorbonne University, the University of Leeds, the University of Glasgow, and London South Bank University, among other institutions.
