Methods: Spectrop otometric met od was developed to determine t e total iridoid glycoside. 8- acetyl arpagide was used as t e reference substance, t e samples were ydrolyzed by acid, 2, 4-dinitrop enyl ydrazine et anol test solution was used as color-developing agent, met ano-l water solution of sodium ydroxide as solvent. T e maximal absorption wavelengt was 586 nm. Results: T e absorbance color of 8-acetyl arpagide and erb sample solutions was stable after t e development, t ere was a good linear relations ip in t e scope of 01016 2~ 01324 8 mg( r = 01999 8) . T e average recovery of t e added reference substance was 10112% and RSD was 210% . Conclusions: T e developed met od is simple, accurate , reproducible and effective for t e quality control of Aj ug a decumbens T unb.
