VCOS Presentation Emerge of Application Integration The need continues to increase as enterprises must automate the links between departments, customers and suppliers (supply chain automation). The need to integrate disparate systems also increase as companies continue to outsource business processes (e.g. help desks, manufacturing, warehousing and transportation) The need is fueled by increasing mergers and acquisitions No consensus on Hardware platforms No consensus on Operating system No consensus on Application formats No consensus on Middle ware solutions Addressing Efficient and Effective Operation needs Majority of Organization are faced with major issues: How to achieve applications scalability? How to enable applications integration? How to achieve Reliable Distributed computing? Reduces maintenance and development costs Allows developers to focus on business solutions Establishes a framework for reuse of process/tools, message definitions and transformation/routing rules Type of Application Integration Architecture Hub and Spoke Architecture Architecture that includes a central server in which all message flow through. The central server is the HUB, while applications typically make up the SPOKES. Most solutions allow for mutiple servers, or hubs. Any required transformations can typically occur in the server (HUB) or at each application (SPOKE) or both. Bus/Message Architecture Architecture that do not require a central server in which all message must pass.
