Quadri 8 0 Dip. di Fisica, Universit`a degli Studi di Milano 0 and INFN, Sez. di Milano 2 n via Celoria 16, I-20133 Milano, Italy u J 6 1 Abstract ] h We propose a subtraction scheme for a massive Yang-Mills t - theory realized via a nonlinear representation of the gauge group p e (here SU(2)). It is based on the subtraction of the poles in h [ D − 4 of the amplitudes, in dimensional regularization, after a 3 suitable normalization has been performed. Perturbation the- v ory is in the number of loops and the procedure is stable under 9 3 iterative subtraction of the poles. The unphysical Goldstone 3 2 bosons, the Faddeev-Popov ghosts and the unphysical mode of . 5 the gauge field are expected to cancel out in the unitarity equa- 0 tion. The spontaneous symmetry breaking parameter is not a 7 0 physical variable.
