设计思路 本课件依赖课本材料不多。是从一份考题入手,引导学生从审题开始到最后要求学生完成考题的过程。包括学习目标、写作方法,分析了写作主题、对象、用词和格式。利用课本上的信作范文,引导学生关注写作的具体内容、分段及连接词的运用。 A Letter of Complaint Learning aims: To write a letter of complaint. To practise using the vocabulary of complaints. To practise using linking words and expressions Writing Methods Letters are divided into personal letters and business letters according to their writing ways. Before writing a letter, remember to ask yourself: for whom is the letter intended and for what purpose. In writing a personal letter, you may have a very casual and informal style, just like talking to a friend. As for a business letter, you should write it in a more formal style, and the format is also different. An Example 1. Read the exam question and underline the key words. You have heard that the city government is planning to build a road very close to the area where you live. Write to complain and to explain the effect of the project on you, your neighbors, and the surrounding area. If possible, suggest what actions should be taken to solve the traffic problem in a more friendly way. 2. Think about your reader. 1)Who are you going to write your letter to? a close friend\the government\a stranger\... 2)Why are you writing the letter? to amuse\apologize\persuade\complain\... 3)What impressions do you want your reader to have of you? friendly\polite but firm\rude\... 4)What style of writing will your reader expect? formal\semi-formal\informal and friendly 3. Brainstorm the topic Discuss what reasons you could give for objecting to the new road. And make your suggestions. 4. Think about vocabulary. Brainstorm the words or phrases which may be useful in your letter. Add more to the table. 5. Think about format A letter of complaint is a formal letter. So where the following items should appear on the template? ·your address ·the greeting ( Dear X ) ·the date ·your name ·closing phrase ( I look forward to hearing from you.) ·the ending
