Preface Nowadays, People’s Bank of China has updated the China National Advanced Payment System (“CNAPS”) in order to meet the latest business needs. Comparing with the current CNAPS (“CNAPS1”) message version, the new generation of CNAPS (“CNAPS2”) message has changed a lot. For example, the business categories of CNAPS2 message have been assorted to more detailed new reclassifications. To familiarize all participants with the new standard, this document was made to help participants to understand and prepare qualified RMB cross-border SWIFT messages. 2. Changes 2.1 Business Categories According to the different business backgrounds, People’s Bank of China divides CNAPS2 messages into 13 categories. The RMB cross-border payment instructions from our participants must contain one of the related categories on line 1 of Field 72 of SWIFT messages in the form of codewords defined by our bank.
