Introduction 1.What’s packing? 2.Kinds of packing 3.Packing containers include 1. What’s packing? Packing is an art. It needs more care in export trade than in home trade. The real art of packing is to get the contents into a nice, compact shape that will stay that way during the roughest journey. Every buyer expects that his goods will reach him in perfect condition. Nothing is more infuriating to a buyer than to find his goods damaged or part missing on arrival. The seller must try to pack the goods in such a way that they will go through the ordeal of transport unscathed. It has been estimated that as much as 70% of all cargo loss could be prevented by proper packaging and marking. 2. Kinds of packing There are two forms of packing: （1）运输包装（外包装、大包装） packing for transportation outer packing / large packing （2）销售包装（内包装、小包装、直接包装） sales packing / packaging inner packing/ small packing 商品包装是商品在生产和流通过程中，保护商品品质完好和数量完整的一种手段。 在对外贸易中，做好商品的包装和装潢，还能起到美化商品，提高出口商品竞争能力，扩大销售的作用。 进出口商品除散装货（bulk goods）和裸装货（nude goods）外，大多数商品都需要包装，它不仅有助于销售，便于运输、贮存和装卸，节约运费、减少破损，而且还便于销售。 对外贸易的商品，按照在流通过程中有无包装来划分，可分为三类，即包装货、裸装货和散装货。 （1）包装货(packed goods/cargo)是指有包装的商品，多数商品属于这一类。 （2）裸装货（nude goods）是指品质比较稳定，不易受外界条件的影响，不需要包装的商品，如拖拉机、钢材等。 裸装货（nude goods）也指能在生产过程中，按照一定的尺寸和重量标准加工成件的商品，如铅锭、锡锭等，或者按照一定要求用不同的牢固色漆划线或抽扎后系以金属标签作为标记的商品，如钢材、钢管等。 （3）散装货（bulk goods）是指散装的石油、水泥、煤碳、矿砂、粮食等类商品，可用专门设计的运输工具和装卸设备进行载运和装卸，但有时散装货也可采用包装而成为包装货，如桶装的石油、袋装的水泥等 3.
