He married Elizabeth Woodville in 1464 who bore him ten children. He also entertained many mistresses and had at least one illegitimate son. She was born in 1437. She was the wife of Edward IV, mother of Elizabeth of York who was the wife of Henry VII, and the grandmother of Henry VIII. She married Sir John Grey in 1452 and bore him two sons. After his death, she and Edward IV secretly got married in 1464.
