He was the first of Lacastrian kings and the son of John of Gaunt and grandson of Edward III. His whole name was Henry of Bolingbroke. His first wife was Mary de Bohun. She was Henry IV’s second wife. She married John V first and bore him 9 children. After John V death, she remained a widow for 4 years. Then she became the second wife of Henry IV of England. She didn’t have any child with Henry IV. During the reign of Henry V, she was accused of using witchcraft to try to poison Henry V, so she was imprisoned for 4 years. King Henry IV captured James, the young heir to the Scottish throne, in 1406. The English held him hostage for nineteen years, thus effectively neutralized the Scots, preventing them to help their French ally. Windsor Castle (XXIX. 1413-1422) He was the eldest son of Henry IV. He married Cathrine, daughter of the French King. In 1420 the French king named Henry as heir to the French crown. She was the queen from 1420-1422. She was the daughter of King Charles VI of France, the wife of King Henry V, the mother of King Henry VI, and grandmother of King Henry VII. After Henry V’s death she married Owen Tudor. (1378-1417) He was an influencial follower of John Wycliffe. The King had Oldcastle imprisoned in the Tower of London. After he escaped he was charged with plotting against the King. In 1417 he was executed. John Wycliff John Wycliffe was tortured by the Roman Catholics for he translated the Bible into
