AbstractRecently,abundantseabiomassresourceshavebecomingmoreandmoreattractivebecauseoftheirpotentialapplicationintherenewableenergy.Alginateisnaturally derivedlinearcopolymer,whichthenegativelychargedframework(–COO–)inG-rich blocksofthealginatepolymersmakesitsimpletoformmetalalginates(M-alginates)by absorbingMx+,andtheirstructureshavebeendescribedbytheso-called“egg-box”structure.Alginateisfantasticprecursorsofnanotexturedcarbons,whichisapromising candidateascarbon-basedelectrodematerialsforenergystorage.Thealginatecould preparemicron-andnano-sizedalginicfibersthroughwet-spinningandelectrospinning, respectively.Herein,wedemonstrateCo3O4/C fibers(Co3O4-CF)andnitrogen-doped porouscarbonnanofibers (N-PCNFs)bypyrolyzing alginicfibersand test theelectrochemicalperformanceforlithiumionbatteries(LIBs),supercapacitors(SCs),and oxygenreductionreaction(ORR).Firstly,aftercarbonizationoftheCo-alginatesininertgasatmosphere,itisexpected toobtainCo3O4-CF,wheretheCo3O4can beencapsulated well by thecarbonized alginate. Apparently,thissimplestrategyismorefeasibletosynthesizeastableCo3O4/Cbattery anodecomparedwiththecomplicatedconventionalmethods.Thisnano/microstructurecancombinethemeritsoftheCo3O4nanostructureandthecarbonaceousmicrofibrematrix,andthusexhibitsahighreversiblecapacityof780mAh/gat89mA/gafter100 cyclesusingasanodematerialsaswellasexcellentcyclingstabilityandrateperformance.Secondly,wepreparedauniquesustainablebiomassconversionstrategyfor N-PCNFsthroughpyrolyzingtheelectrospinningrenewablenaturalalginateas high-performancemultifunctionalenergymaterialsforboostingtheperformanceofLIBs, SCs,andORR.TheN-PCNFsownedhighspecificsurfacearea,goodelectrochemicalconductivity,porousstructure,andpartlygraphitization.Thosefeaturescanpromotethefaseelectrontransformandefficientionsdiffusion.WefoundthattheN-PCNFs pyrolyzed at600°C (denoteasN-PCNFs-600)intheammoniashow theoptimalstructureandelectroniccharacteristics,makingthemexhibitalargereversiblecapacityof625 mAh/gat1A/g, goodratecapa
