AbstractInrecentyears,withtherapiddevelopmentoflasertechnology,morescientistshavecommittedtothefieldofrealizationofhigh-powersolid-statelaseroutput.Fromthecurrentpointofview,whetherthelasercrystal,laserglassortransparentceramiclasermaterialscan’tmeettherequirementsofhigh-powerlasers,duetotheirvitalshortcomings.Comparedwithconventionallasermaterials,microcrystal-glasscompositematerials combinetheadvantagesof largeglasspreparationandhighluminouscrystals,whichopenupnewresearchdirectionsforthefieldofnewlaser materials. With the aims to breakthrough thetraditionalpreparation,the paper mainlydiscussesthepreparationtechnologyofNd3+dopedfluorophosphateglassceramics,aswellasmicrocrystal-glass composites, to prepare novel composite laser materials with ideal opticalproperties.The maincontentsandresearchresultsareasfollowed:Basedonfluorophosphateglasswithgoodopticalproperties,inordertoimproveitspoormechanicalpropertiesandlow thermalconductivity,weprepareakindoftransparentfluorophosphateglassceramicscontainingCaF2andSrF2nanocrystalsbyconventionalmeltingandquenching method. Compared with the glass matrix, the Nd3+ ions in fluorophosphate glassceramicsatthe4F3/2→4I11/2transitionshowslongerlifetimeandemissioncrosssection:τexp=509μs,σp=3.96×10-20cm2.BasedonMiescatteringtheory, themathematicalmodelofthelight-scatteringpropertiesinthemicrocrystal-glasscompositeswasbuilt.Itwasfoundthattheopticaltransmittanceofmicrocrystal-glasscompositeswasmoresignificantlyaffectedbytheincreaseinparticlescontentandrefractiveindexdifferencebetweentheparticlesandthe matrix.Brightnear-infrared-emittingCaF2:Ndmicrocrystal-glasscompositeswerepreparedbyincorporatingtheCaF2:NdnanocrystalsintoFPA-5glass,withatwo-stepmelt-quenchingtechnique.BymatchingdispersioncurveoftheglassmatrixandCaF2microcrystalintherangeofUV-Vis-NIR,thetransmittancecanreach83%.Whendoped30wt%CaF2:Nd,thefluorescencelifetimeofNd3+at4F3/2→4I11/2transitioninthetransparentmicrocrystal-glasscompositeasprepared,isupto518μs.Keywords:fluorophos
