The Advantages of Living in a Small City In the past, living in a big city especially like New York, Shanghai, and Tokyo could be an exciting thing because of convenient life, economic prosperity, and complete public facilities. So a lot of people worked very hard and earned much money. Then they move in a big city which they had desired for a long time. Later, people found many failings of big city life; for example, traffic congestion, high level consumption and so complex environment. So a lot of city people moved to the countryside. Living in the countryside has not the disadvantages of big city, but it lacks of the city’s many advantages. However, living in a small city not only retains the advantages of big city but also abandons the failings, which builds up three main big advantages: convenient travel; consumption level is low; easy to adapt the environment. The first advantage of living in a small city is convenient travel. Small cities have buses, taxis, tricycles. The bus routes across the city almost every place. We don’t need to wait for a bus for a long time. Five minutes are enough. Also it is very cheap, no matter where you go as long as 1 or 2 Yuan (Yuan is Chinese coin unit, one dollar equal to about 6.4 Yuan). Taxis are everywhere. We don’t need to call an appointment. Just wave your hand on the side of road. Then one taxi will pick up you and take you everywhere you want to go. Even a circle around a city only costs about 6 to 10 Yuan. Tricycles are very interesting traffic. You can just sit down and enjoy the roadside scenery. Sometimes, if someone doesn’t know the road to the place, they can take it and the rider can take them there. Also it is not expensive. Besides, there are almost no traffic jams in a small city. The roads are unobstructed. When someone drove a private car in a small city, they never have felt that the road is too narrow and cost much time on road.
