The aim is to find the simplest method of assessing surfactant efficiency.* The dehydrated oil has density p24~0.859-0.869 and contains (%): paraffin 6.3-9.0, silica gel resins 8.8-12.7, asphaltenes 0.9-1.1, fractions boiling below 200% 15-17 [1]. Emulsions of this oil are finely dispersed (mean globule diameter 1.6 p). The thermochemical method is as follows. 200 g oil is placed in a flask with a reflux condenser and heated to the demulsification temperature 75-80%, which was established from the viscosity-temperature curve [2]. De- mulsifier was added to weighed samples, mixed for 10 min and left to settle on the water bath (6 h), and the water which settled out was removed. Each experiment was repeated at least twice. Experiments on the preparation of oil in a field of power-frequency currents were performed in an ~LOU pilot plant of capacity 85 liters/day. In each experiment, 5 to 6 samples of processed oil were taken at 30 rain intervals and the mean values of the water
