Due to bad ventilation, these working environments are usually under anoxia condition or contaminated by toxic gas so as to endanger the workers. This research, with the goal to reduce the hazards occurred in the confined spaces, developed a portable warning system according to the safety needs of workers. We amend the oxygen detector designed in the previous study by adding accelerometers for sensing of motion activity. A wireless system was integrated with the detector to provide prompt status of the worker and environment inside the confined space to the standby worker outside of it. This system can help to reduce the accidental death for working in the confined space by both warning the “inside” worker to save himself and the standby workers outside come to the rescue.
