In this paper, we do some research on the consumption compsition .firstly,the significance of the study is predicted,and then we use the consumer expenditure data of Nanjing in 2000-2008 as the panel data,the factor analysis model, in addition to the cluster analysis model,to carry out empirical analysis about the consumption structure of Nanjing city residents.After that, we have suggested some policy recommendations on how to promote the rational consumption of urban residents in Nanjing ,in order to promote the economic development of Nanjing. The characteristics and innovation of this paper, is the integrated use of static and dynamic approaches to study the changes in the structure of urban consumption, and marketing strategy is closer to mass consumption, all these lead to a more practical significance of this article.
