What needs to be included in an apology letter. 2. Appropriate greetings and closing for apology letters. 3. How and when to write apology letters appropriate to the situation II. Teaching Tips 1.Be genuinely sorry in your letter. 2.Don’t make excuses; it will sound like you aren’t really sorry. 3.Actually fix the problem when possible. 4.If it is a close relationship, don’t send a letter, apologize in person. III Teaching Procedure Step1 Warm up An apology letter is used to make a formal apology. It is important to write apology letters as soon as possible after doing something wrong. It is also very important for them to be short and to the point. Don’t make excuses and be sincere in the letter. Most apology letters include: An Apology (actually say you are sorry) Explain how you will fix the problem (if possible) Explain how you will keep it from happening again Step2 Presentation Businesses often have to write apology letters to customers when they complain. When this happens it is important to be clear about how you are making sure this won’t happen again. This will make the customer want to use this company again. Case 1 Dear Mr. Krueger: We are truly sorry and embarrassed that the book you recently purchased from us was missing pages. We pride ourselves on producing error-free books but apparently one slipped through. We are sending you another copy of the book immediately.
