* * Then we take the top level CTQs and deploy them down to sub-system, sub-assembly, components. On the other side, process CTQs are developed based on the customer needs and deployed into the factory for assembly and test. * * Note that this process is actually iterative in nature. As more information about CTQs becomes available, it is important to repeat the statistical analyses to assess new tradeoffs. * * * Key points: Requirements always start with the customer Customer CTQs must be translated into system CTQs. At this point, the flowdown begins. Requirements flow down to part level. Capability to achieve the requirements is flowed back up to identify tradeoffs and gaps. * * * Key points: ZST = 6.0 is a goal. It is not always a reality because it may be too costly to get that far. This is the concept of “ZST – threshold.” This chart will be referred to often during the class. * * * There are several tools that are relevant to both DFSS as well as DFR (captured in the overlap area of the Venn diagram). However, there are several tools that are very specific to DFR (captured on the right side of the Venn diagram). This course will cover at a high level the tools from the overlap area (by highlighting where they fit into the overall DFR flow) and cover in depth the tools that are specific to DFR. * * a.
