AbstractRecently, with the huge demands for the large information and the big capacity of the network, the fiber optic communication system developed very quickly. In order to meet the large requirements, the optical fiber communication system is developed from single channel, low rate to the multichannel, high-speed of the new generation full optical communication network. With development for the multichannel fiber optic communication system, the interleaver devices have been widely researched. In this thesis, a new kind of hybrid cavity tunable interleaver of G-T resonator and birefringence element is proposed and designed. Simulation and analysis have been done in the aspects of both of devices and system respectively.Firstly, the background of the interleaver and comparison of advantages of different kinds of interleaver has been introduced. On the basis of theoretical model of the crystal type and the G-T resonator type, this thesis analyzes the structure and working principle of the hybrid cavity interleaver and gets the transfer function of the new kind of interleaver through calculation.Secondly, based on the construction of amplitude frequency and phase frequency response model for this hybrid cavity interleaver, we have analyzes and simulates the interleaver’s characteristics such as the characteristic of the output spectrum, the bandwidth flatness, the isolates degree, the tuning characteristics of bandwidth and center wavelength, phase characteristic and so on. The interleaver’s bandwidth optimization characteristics and tunable characteristics of bandwidth and center wavelength have been calculated and analyzed. We have also demonstrated the simulation curve of phase characteristic, time delay characteristics and dispersion characteristics.Finally, the performance of hybrid cavity interleaver in the 3U optical transmission system have been simulated and analyzed.
