ContentsAbstract....................................................................................................IV摘要..........................................................................................................VIAbstractThesubjectofmetaphorhasbeenthefocusofmuchthoughtandresearchsinceAristotle.AccordingtoAristotle,metaphorconsistsingivingthethinganamethatbelongstosomethingelse(Aristotle,1954).Thenitdevelopedfromthetraditionaltoacognitiveconceptionofmetaphor.In1980,LakoffandJohnsonpublishedabooknamedMetaphorsWeLiveBy.Inthebooktheyputforwardconceptualmetaphortheory.Theyregardmetaphorasthemappingrelationsbetweentwoindependentconceptualdomains:thesourcedomainandthetargetdomain,bymappingfromthesourcedomainontothetargetdomainbasedonphysicalandculturalexperience.Inaddition,theyknowtheessenceofmetaphoras“understandingandexperiencingonekindofthingintermsofanother”(LakoffJohnson,1980).Metaphoractsascognitiveinstrument.Metaphorisnotjustawayofexpressingideasthroughlanguage,butalsoawayofthinkingaboutthings.LakoffJohnsoncategorizeconceptualmetaphorintostructuralmetaphors,ontologicalmetaphorsandorientationalmetaphors.Structuralmetaphorismetaphoricallystructuringoneconceptintermsofanother.Ontologicalmetaphorshavethreesub-types:entityandsubstancemetaphor,containermetaphorandpersonification.Entityandsubstancemetaphoristorefer,quantifyandidentifytheabstractconcepts.Whenapplyingsuchkindofmetaphors,peopletendtoconceptualizeabstractconceptsbasedonourphysicalexperience.Containermetaphoristhemostrepresentativeandtypicalontologicalmetaphor(ZhaoYanfang,2011).Everyoneisacontainer,whohasin-outorientation.Peopleprojecttheconceptsontootherobjects.Personificationisalsoakindofontologicalmetaphor.Peopleimposehuman’scharacteristicstononhumanentity.Orientationalmetaphoristoorganizetheconceptsintermsofanotherbasedonourspatialorientationandculturalexperience.InYuandynasty,WangShifuwroteRomanceofWesternBower.ItisoneofthemostimportantlyricaldramasinChineseliteraturehistory.Itenjoysthesamep
