ABSTRACTIntheapplicationfieldsofpolarizingtechnologyandinformationtechnology,theopticalphaseretardersareimportantcomponentsinopticalmodulationsystem.Theycanproduceaspecificphaseretardationofincidentpolarizedlighttoaspecificwavelengthorawavelengthrange,whichmaketheincidentlightpolarizationstatechange.Phaseretardercanachievethelightpolarizationstateconversionortheplaneofpolarizationrotationusedwithotherpolarizeddevices.Wave-platesarethemainopticalphaseretarderwhichcanbedividedintosinglewave-plateandthecompositewave-plate.Theyarewidelyusedinprecisionopticalmeasurements,opticalmodulationandmeasurementsofbiomedicalandotherfields.Itsmainopticaltechnologicalparameteristhephaseretardation;ithasadirectrelationshipwiththemeasurementoflightwavelength.Theretardationmeasurementsinaspecificwavelengthhaveanumberofways,suchasthecompensationmethod,theelectro-opticmodulation,opticalheterodyning,1/4wave-platemethod.Althoughtheprincipleofthesemethods,thedegreeof difficultytoachieveandcomplexityofthesystemarequitedifferent,theycanbasicallymeettheneedforsinglewavelengthmeasurements.Theaccuracyofthewaveplate,inthecaseoftherapiddevelopmentoftechnologyoflaserandpolarizedtechnology,alsoincreasing,whichrequiresnotonlytheaccuracyofmeasuringtheretardationbutalsothediversityandtheeaseof themetrical methods.Refertoreferenceliterature,waveplateretardationofwidespectralmeasurementshavebeenadifficultproblem,previousresearchershavediscussedbirefringentmaterialofthepolarizinginterferencespectrum,itwasmainlyforthestudyofmaterialpropertiesanddidnotgivethephaseretardationofthedevicecorrespondingeachwavelengthwithinthemeasuringrange.Inthispaper,throughthemeasurementandanalysisofcontinuouspolarizationinterferencespectrumofasinglequartzwaveplate,wefoundthatthespectrumincludednotonlythematerialpropertiessuchasabsorptionandbirefringencebutalsowidespectralrangeopticalphase delayinformationwhich proposed a new measurement and analysismethods.Furtherusingthisnewapproach,itsapplicationtomeasuretheretardationof a
