的限制,本研究难免存在一定的局限性。因此,本研究最后提出了一些建议,以便在今后的研究中进一步探讨。关键词:初中英语教师;专业能力;专业发展需求AbstractSincethe21stcentury,EFLteacherprofessionaldevelopmenthasbecomeoneofthecentralissuesofglobaleducationdevelopment.TherearemanyfactorsinfluencingEFLteacherprofessionaldevelopment,suchasEFLteachers’professionalquality,professionalcompetence,needsforprofessionaldevelopment,teachingskills,andteachingprinciples.AlthoughquantitiesofempiricalstudiesonEFLteachers’professionalcompetenceandtheirneedsforprofessionaldevelopmenthavebeencarriedoutathomeandabroad,fewstudiesontherelationshipbetweenEFLteachers’professionalcompetenceandtheirneedsforprofessionaldevelopment.Therefore,thethesisreportsthecharacteristicsofprofessionalcompetenceandneedsforprofessionaldevelopmentconcerningthejuniorhighschoolEFLteachersinGuangxiZhuangAutonomousRegion,aimingtoprobeintotherelationshipsbetweenteacherprofessionalcompetenceandneedsforprofessionaldevelopment.Therefore,thefollowingsixresearchquestionsareaddressed:WhatarethecharacteristicsofEFLteachers’professionalcompetenceinjuniorhighschools?WhataretheneedsforprofessionaldevelopmentofEFLteachersinjuniorhighschools?ArethereanysignificantdifferencesbetweenEFLteacherprofessionalcompetenceandschooltypeandbetweenneedsforprofessionaldevelopmentandschooltype?WhatistherelationshipbetweenprofessionalcompetenceofEFLteachersinjuniorhighschoolsandtheirneedsforprofessionaldevelopment?1094juniorhighschoolEFLteachersinGuangxiZhuangAutonomousRegionareinvolvedinthesurvey.ThequestionnairesareScaleofProfessionalCompetenceofJuniorHighSchoolEFLTeachersandScaleofNeedsforProfessionalDevelopmentofJuniorHighSchoolEFLTeachers.ThroughtheStatisticPackagefortheSocialScience16.0Version(SPSS16.0),theresultsofstatisticalanalysisarepresentedasfollows:TheEFLteachersinjuniorhighschoolsinGuangxiZhuangAutonomousRegionareofstrongprofessionalcompetence.Amongthethreedimensionsinteacherprofessionalcompetence,themiddleschoolEFLteachershaveahighlevelofknowledgeandattitudeandgeneralteachingcompetencewhiletheyhaveam
