Safety Policy for Footwear The primary objective of this document is to assist supplier in reducing risk of metal contaminated footwear reaching our customers and consumers to help the supplier perfectly understood the importance of the Metal Free Safety Policy in Footwear. The process and design the rules for “Footwear Safety Policy” must follow and work effectively, everybody and everyday. To all Coles Myer Footwear Supplier – the manufacturing location should enforce these rules and procedures, both internally and with their sub-contractor. Management are responsible to conduction regular audits at their production location(s) to ensure traceability record upon compliance. How to improving and implementing controls at: At the Reception All visitors to the factory must be informed the “Footwear Safety Policy” and ensure they will not left behind any sharp object to the factory premises during their visits. Factory must be informed and de-brief the “Footwear Safety Policy” to all workers. Posters or Caution Notice board should be displayed at appropriate location, factory entrances, exists and working area, as a reminder of the enforced “Footwear Safety Policy” for footwear products. In All Area 2.1 Each work area must have special container and kept in a secure location away from the workstation to collect all loose piece of nails, screws, staples, eyelets, hooks etc… where any metal is discovered and can be safely isolated. 2.2 To ensure that there is no danger of tools becoming lost, a cord of drawstring should be affixed to all tools (include of scissor, cutter, knife, thread trimmer, pincer, etc…), so that they can secure to either operator or the working table. 2.3 Metal contamination other than sewing needles can also pose a metal contamination concern.
