The the origin of Halloween Halloween, or Hallowe’en, is a holiday celebrated on October 31. Irish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century. Halloween is celebrated in several countries of the Western world, most commonly in the United States, Canada, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, United Kingdom and occasionally in parts of Australia. Halloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic(凯尔特人 )festival known as Samhain(萨温节).The festival of Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic(盖尔族的, 盖尔语的) culture, and is sometimes regarded as the Celtic New Year.
