原文: Consider the Safety of A System in Design Stage Xie Youbai Theory of Lubrication Bearing Institute, Xi’an Jiaotong Universit, Xi’an, 710049, China 0 Introduction There are a large amount of huge and complex machine systems characterized by large scale, high speed, large power flow rate, high productivity and high degree of automation and intelligence. To increase the competitiveness, a life design is required. It implies that the designed products have a characteristic of time variable and designers must be responsible for the performance of the products not only during delivery, but also responsible for the variable performance including safety in the whole operating stage of the products before entire failure. Increasing safety margins is a usually adopted measure in traditional experience-based design. This is not a good solution when it in general makes the system heavy, increases the consumption of material and decreases its efficiency. Another way is increasing the built-in test facilities or embedding a monitoring [1]. A compensation or control subsystem is suggested also by subsystem to the designed system in design stagethe author. The diversity of use of any artificial system makes the designers almost impossible to consider accurately all of the changes under working condition, and then a facility, which can warn the user when any part of the system is overloaded (in accordance with the system performance deterioration) is necessary. The more important point is that this is the best way for designers to collect the time-variable information of their designed objects under specified work conditions. The embedded monitoring subsystem records the information of the real time variation of load, speed, temperature etc and variation of friction, wear rate, deterioration of important structure elements including lubricants, and the global performance of the system.
