新课程标准下的高中英语文化教学
Culture and language interact and promote each other. Culture teaching should
be an important part in English language teaching, but with the impact of traditional
teaching methods, as well as the examination and evaluation mechanisms, it has not
been given due attention to. The New Criteria for English Syllabus in Senior High
School issued in the year 2003 made “cultural awareness as one of the English
curriculum goals in senior high school for the first time, which indicates that foreign
language teaching in our country has reached a new stage. As a whole, now in our
country, high school students’ cross-cultural communicative competence is weak, and
foreign language teaching does not really achieve its ultimate goal: to enable the
students to communicate with foreigners properly. This goal poses a challenge to all
English teachers: faced with present teaching situation, how can we perform cultural
teaching under goal? This paper firstly analyses the relationship between culture and
language, culture teaching situation at home and abroad, and English teaching
textbooks at senior high school. Then with the help of some questionnaires, the paper
tries to find out students’ motivation for English learning, their cross-cultural
communicative competence, and the present situation of cultural teaching and
learning as well. The statistics have demonstrated it is necessary to enhance English
cultural teaching in our senior high school. Thus, the writer put forward some possible
teaching strategies on how to implement cultural teaching under the present
circumstances, cultivate the students’ cultural awareness, and improve their
cross-cultural communicative competence

前言
改革开放以来,中西文化的交融进入了一个全新的阶段。但是,在高中,英
语教学由于长期深受考试制度和传统教学方法的影响,师生对语言的教学侧重于
语法,对词汇的教学也侧重于单词表面的意义,忽视了语言后面蕴藏的文化知识。
这种教学导致的结果是什么呢?我们的很多学生在考试中获得高分,能记住各种
各样的语法或语音规则,但在与外国人交流中却屡屡碰壁。究
