A healthy age- and gender-matched control group n 54 was also recruited. They were required to be ≥ 18 years of age, to have proliferative diabetic retinopathy were scheduled to undergo strabismus surgery. The potential influence of visual function on the improvement of the HADS, DSQL and SF-36 at 1 month after surgery was examined in patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy n 54 ResultsA total of 117 patients with diabetic retinopathy were asked to participate: 67 patients with proliferative phase with a mean ± SD anxiety score of 7.11 ± 3.38 and 50 patients with non-proliferative phase with a mean ± SD depression score of 7.59 ± 3.23.
