On English---Song JinxiuHello everyone,I’m very glad to share my opinions with you about English and English learning today. My speech here mainly has three parts: What is English, How charming is English and How to learn English well？Known to us all, English is a language used by more than 750 million people in the world. Take China as an example, almost everyone in the cities speak English, more or less. It is obvious that English has already become the most important foreign language in most parts of the world. Thanks to the language, we don’t have much trouble to communicate with people from other countries. With the help of the language, we can exchange our ideas without difficulty with foreigners and learn a lot from each other. And this will make us better. More importantly, English is the cultural carrier. It carries culture across borders and help people around the world know other nation’s cultures, traditions and technology. And this will increase understandings about each other and contribute to the world’s harmony, peace and development. If we can speak good English, we can easily travel around the world to see beautiful things, taste delicious food in different countries and make friends from other regions. If we can write good English, we can express our ideas better or even publish our research papers in good journals, because more than 90% good journals are published in English. If we read English well, we can learn more from the great minds from other countries. So English is charming, not only in the language itself, but also the great benefits it brings to us. It makes our lives more enjoyable and easier. More importantly, it opens another window for us to see and enjoy the outside world better. This is why English lies in our mind.So, how should we and our students learn English well? This is a question puzzling most of us. In my opinion, interest always comes first. The only thing that drives us far is our interest. Interest is the key to ever
