Project 2 A report on charity I. Teaching aims and learning objectives By the end of the lesson, students should be able to: 1. work together with the group members and share ideas with each other; 2. do a report on the ways to help different charity projects. II. Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty 1. Cultivate students’ confidence of learning English and improve students’ motivation to learn English. 2. Searching for related information about a charity. 3. Do a meaningful, practical and attractive report. III. Teaching procedures Step I Lead-in 1. Present some international charities 2. Group discussion (1) How do the charities help people? (2) What charity do you like best? Why? T: Today we’ll do a report on the ways to help different charity projects. 【设计意图:通过国际慈善组织导入,唤起学生对慈善事业的关注与参与意识。】 Step II Pre-task 1. Some charity projects in China (1) Get the students to work in groups of four. Think about different charity projects in China. (2) Present five charity projects in China: ●Project Hope ●Project Green Hope ●Spring Bud Project ●Save China’s Tigers ●Happiness Project 2. Details about different charity projects (1) What is its name? (2) When was it set up? (3) Why was it set up? (4) What kind of work does it do? 【设计意图:引导各个层次的学生参与教学活动,促进学生对问题的思考与延伸。】 Step III While-task 1. Get each group to choose a charity project 2. Help the students do a report on a charity project step by step (1) Project choosing: Choose a charity project and do a survey among the group members. (2) Information collecting: Prepare a list of questions and find information in leaflets, advertisements and articles. Questionnaire 1 a. What is its name? b. When was it set up? c. Why was it set up? d. What kind of work does it do? e. How many people has it helped? f. What can we do for it?
