Abstract*WiththedevelopmentofthepowerindustryinChinaandthecontinuouslyincreaseofthetransmissionvoltagelevel,ContaminationFlashoverbecomesoneofthemainconstraintsofthesafeoperationofthepowersystem.WiththeACpowerfrequencyandDCpowerdischargeexperimentsoftheslabmodel,thispaperstudiestheimpactofcontaminationonthesurfacedischargeintheseverenon-uniformelectricfieldwithastrongverticalcomponent,theachievementobtainedareasfollows:WiththeACpowersurfacedischargeexperimentsofdustinthecolumniformslabmodel,itisfoundthatthearcindustcontaminationlayeroccurs,theconditionthatthearcinlayeroccursisproposed.Unlikethearcinair,thearcinlayerisdarkeryellow-brown.TheconditionthatthearcinlayeroccursisthatwhenthedustthicknessD??0.5mm,thearcinlayeroccurs;whenthedustthicknessD??1.0mm,thedischargewilloccurfirstintheglasssurface，farmawayfromthedusttank;whenthedustthickness0.5mm??D??1.0mm,thedischargephenomenonisrandom.WiththeACpowersurfacedischargeexperimentsofadusttankandaduststripeinthecolumniformslabmodel,itisfoundthatthethickerdustwillhinderthedevelopmentofthedischarge,theflashovervoltagewillincrease.Whenthecontaminationthicknessissmall,theflashovervoltagedeceasesandislessthentheflashovervoltageofthecleanmodel.Withtheincreaseofthecontaminationthickness,theflashovervoltageincreasesafterreachingtheminimum,whenthecontaminationthicknessislargeenough,theflashovervoltageisevenhigherthanthatofthecleanslabmodel.Inthesamecondition,theflashovervoltageoftheslabmodelwithdustislowerthanthatoftheslabmodelwithkaolin,andtheflashovervoltageofthemixedcontaminationwhichiscomposedofkaolinanddust.Thesetwopointsshowthatthecontaminationlayerwillhinderthedevelopmentofthedischarge,maybeimpactedbythegrainsizeeffect,notonlythevolumefractionorthickness.WiththemeasurementoftheACleakagecurrentofthecolumniformslabmodel*SupportedbynationalnaturefoundationofChina:NOithdustandkaolin,itisobservedthatthedrycontaminationlayercanhindertheconductionoftheleakagecurrentbecauseofthechargeaccumulationeffect,andthewetcontaminati
