Enzymes for soil stabilization in China were used for road building in 1995. Some experiences were obtained, but also there were some problems with the works. The present advancement on the study and application of enzymes for soil stabilization in China is introduced in this paper. The environmental protection value, economic efficiency, and the problems are analyzed in the application and development of enzymes for soil stabilization. It is cited that enzymes as soil stabilizers have been used to improve the strength of compressed soil, by the test for comparing strengths of soil stabilized by conventional stabilizers (anhydrate lime, Portland cement), Perma-Zyme 11X. The implications for future investigations are given.
