IV IV Abstract In recent years,the development of self-determination ability has drawn more and more attention.It is a new perspective in the motivation study , revealed the positive psychology a number of topics .It has provided a new ways of thinking for the individual cultivation of positive. This paper makes a theoretical and practical study on the hot issues in this field of research .Theoretically,by sorting various concepts and related theories,this study has made sure what was self-determination ability. Pratically,in accordance with the theoretical model from Deci,a questionnaireon self-determination is complied.An investigation on the students from six colleges has helped to prove the rationality of the credibility and validity of the questionnaire,and explored the relationship among emotion regulation,self-determination ability and study engagemengt.And the following research results are obtained: The revised scale of College Self-Determination Ability Inventory is made up of 15 items,which measure two dimensions,that is perceived choice and awareness of self.The indicators of reliability and validity of this scale are in line with the requirements of psychometrics. The self-determination ability of the students was at a lower-middle level,the development of perceived choice was higher the awareness of self. he emotion regulation of college students was at the lower- middle level of the whole, in the use of two commonly used emotion regulation strategies,suppression strategy was more user tha n reappraisal strategy; study engagement was at the middle level,the absorption and the vigor was at the upper-middle level ,the dedication was at the lower-middle level. The grade and gender interaction of self-determination ability was significant,the main effect of major,performance ranking ,whether classes cadres and residence was significant.
