II II THE STUDY OF THE UNDERGRADUATE’S PREFERENCE OF NEWS APPTAKING GXU STUDENTS AS AN EXAMPLE ABSTRACT In recent years, a lot of media launch their APP for IOS and android. With the arriving of the 4G age, those media will focus more and more energy on news APP. With the guidance of this view, this paper looks at the undergraduate’s preference of news APP, hoping to give some reference and new ideas to the news APP editing job. This paper adopts mainly quantitative research combining with qualitative methods . Anonymous questionnaire is used assisting with case study. The content preference research focus on 3 issues: the content style of news APP, the amount of content, and the homogeneity of news APP. The form preference study focus on how to set sections, how to assign the picture and text, and when to sent news in what patterns are the 3 major topics. The research result shows that undergraduates prefer a changing style of news APP. They only need small message volume per day and their APP reading pattern is shallow. At the same time, they are show some tolerant attitude to the homogeneity of news APP. In the other part, the undergraduates prefer a various section setting of news APP. While receiving the news from APP, they think text-based is better than picture-based. Besides, they also have certain preference on how and when to sent APP news. Based on the above research result, this paper propose 3 discussions. Firstly, as an extension of human-being, news APP should full exploit its characteristics. Secondly, we should introduce the idea of variety and layering to the news APP editing job. Thirdly, we can try to change the present reading pattern and make some transformation.
