The design of piston ring of high power diesel engine of CGI Abstract As a new engineering material of vermicular graphite cast iron, it possesses good prospects including in the fields of power equipment key parts in recent years. Because it has great advantages in wear resistance, strength, thermal conductivity, and thermal fatigue resistance on the engine, and has advantages of small size, high strength, less energy consumption of parts. This paper focused on solving the material selection o f the piston ring and the products quality deployment. Study obtained the state of vermicular graphite cast iron piston ring stable and reasonable on smelting process through the selection of piston ring material RuT350, using 12K g medium frequency induction furnace melting vermicular iron casting smelting process. The vermicularizing effect was increased by changing the creep time and adding alloying element Al on the thin-walled vermicular iron castings. The piston ring of the actual casting obtained good experimental effect, and produced vermicular cast iron piston ring qualified. The conclusions of the experiments are as follows: In the use of low sulfur grade pig iron, vermicular cast iron capacity of 12K g intermediate frequency electric furnace process was: Vermicular Agent usage (0.45%), creep time (32s), tapping temperature (1560℃), and pouring temperature (1410℃). Under this experiment condition, the creep effect is the best when 35S was compacted. The creep rate was the best when the amount of Al was 0.5%, the creep rate of the wall was 20% to 40% when the wall thickness was 10mm, while the wall thickness was above 10mm, and the creep rate was not obvious. The creep rate of the piston ring of the compacted graphite cast iron piston is the best by the 0.5%Al and the microstructure is improved.
