PAGE Abstract Learning motivation reflects learners’ learning needs from the point of psychology, it drives learner’s learning activity toward the certain goal. The writer investigated first-year students’ motive of English learning in Nanzhao No.1 Senior High School. Through the form of questionnaire, the purpose is to find out the gap among the students in learning English and the factors affecting the students’ motive in English learning. The thesis discussed some personal views on the results of investigation of first-year students’ motive in English learning, as well as explored some teaching methods on how to stimulate students’ interest in the process of teaching, teach the students scientific ways of study to strengthen their learning motive and improve their learning ability.
