Abstract
Steel structure of light-weight buildings、Ⅳim gabled flames have been rapidly developed in industrial and civil structures with the rapid development of our country’S economy recently.The joint ofextended end-plate is widely used,because it is all economical and reliable connection forms.Under the action of moment,the end-plate will have prying action to the bolt when the end·plate has deformation.The
bolt will have extra prying force,which will have detrimental influence to the joint.
So it is necessary to analyze the influence ofprying force.
In this paper,the influence of prying force is investigated in extended end-plate and T-shaped joints on the basis of current extended end—plates research results. ANSYS,a large generaJ FEM software,is selected to early on the 3D non-linear analyze.which includes the effects of the material nonlinearity,the geometriC nonlinearity,the pretension of hJigh strength bolt and the contact pressure between end-plates.The finite element models are established according to the changes of end-plate thickness,stiffeneg bolt diameter and bolt arrangement.Prying force is proved to exist according to the results of FEM analyse.The prying force and the tensile force of bolt both descend obviously while those factors ale improved.It indicates that the prying force increases the tensile force of bolt assuredly.It is
suggested that we should consider the adverse influence of prying force to bolt in design.The tensile force’S distribution of hJ【曲strength bolt is a trapezoid which is rolled by the center of compression flange.The calculation of FEM is compared with the method of Struik,The result indicates that the method of Struik is fit for the need of engineering.We should take action to reduce the influence of prying force,but have to ensure the ductibility of connection.We should not unreasoning to add the
thickness of end-plate.in order to avoid也e brittle failure mode.
