Abstract Urban expressway is an important component of the urban road system. However the urban road network failed to realize traffic rapidly and convenient, for the unreasonable geometric establishment of urban expressway. As a significant part of urban road, exit and entrance usually become the bottleneck. Improving the capacity of expressway is the key to improve the urban operation efficiency, so it’s necessary to make analysis and summary for traffic characteristics of urban road, then provides reasonable improvement measures for geometric establishment of city road and reference for expressway construction. The study object of this thesis is the exit and entrance between the main road and the auxiliary road. The optimal layout of geometric establishment on different traffic condi- tion can be gotten through changing the factors which affect the traffic. The geometric establishment of this thesis contains the distance between entrance and exit and the layout of speed change lane. This thesis uses the German traffic simulation soft , VISSIM of PTV company as analysis tool. At first the parameters of the soft should be amended to fit the real situation by comparing the simulation values with the standard parameter values. Through building simulation model to analysis the reasonable distance between the exit and entrance and layout of speed change lane.then makes comprehensive analysis of evaluation indexes based on TOPSIS. The evaluation contains both qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. The result can be the reference for the layout of exit and entrance of expressway.
